I apologise for the late information on this funeral,but the RMA and Standards are invited to both the funeral and wake.? Standards will have to be outside the church as it is so small.? But it is a military funeral.

Sadly there will be the funeral for a Capt Michael Strachan RM, 45 Cdo RM again, and his sister who both died together in an RTA? last week.? Their funeral will be near Aberdeen on Tuesday 30 November.?I will pass details once known.


1.?Background. On 9 Nov 10 30065918 Marine Carl Anthony Harrison died at Ninewells hospital, Dundee, Scotland following a road traffic accident in Arbroath, on 8 Nov 10.? His family were at his bedside when he died and have requested a military service funeral.

2.?Marine Harrison.? Marine Harrison,known as 'Toes' within his Tp, was born on 21 Jan 86.?He was brought up in Birmingham before moving to Bromsgrove with his mother.?He joined the Royal Marines on 28 Sep 08 and on completion of recruit training at the CTCRM joined 45 Cdo RM at RM Condor in Oct 09.? He joined Whiskey Company in 08 as part of the Grenade Machine Gun section in Fire Support Group troop.? Marine Harrison was enormously popular and was described as an enthusiastic and hardworking man with high professional standards.? He was bright and responsible with a natural talent that promised much for the future.? Recreationally he was exceptionally fit and was a keen footballer and swimmer.

3. Marine Harrison?s Family. Marine Harrison leaves behind his Mother Mz Maria Harrison, hi smother?s partner; Mr Alan Hodgetts, uncle; Mr John Gracie, Aunty; Mrs Eileen Gracie and girlfriend; Miss Millie Mallon.?All the members of his family fully supported him throughout his military career and were extremely proud of him being a Royal Marine.


4. The aim of this instruction is to outline the arrangements for the funeral the funeral bearer party and funeral honour guard / firing party.


5.?The funeral service of the late Marine Harrison will take place at St John the Baptist Church, Crown Close, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 7JW at 26 1030 Nov10 followed by a burial in the North Bromsgrove Cemetery, Barley Mow Lane,Catshill, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

On completion of the funeral service, a function will be held by the family at the Lickey End District Social Club, 17 Alcester Road,Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B60 1JT.

The family have requested that only family flowers be sent.? Those wishing to make a donation can do so through the funeral directors in aid of the Woodland Garden Trust Fund, via the RMA.
